			Entertainment in Rotorua

A vast and varied nightlife ensures that you will never be short of things to do after sunset in this tourist centre. From the traditional Maori hangi to the host of bars and clubs in Rotorua, the selection of entertainment is quite surprising when you consider the fact that it really is not a very big town.

In fact traditional entertainment is extremely important in Rotorua and you will find one event or another taking place every night of the week there. This is a really good way to truly immerse yourself in a region’s culture and to take advantage of the fact that you are in such a unique location. Nowhere in New Zealand is this form of nightlife so prevalent so ensure that you check it out at least once.

As well as the above, many of the hostels in the region also have their own bars. These are excellent places to meet up with fellow backpackers and see what they’ve been up to. It is also a really good way to decide what you want to do next as travellers are usually only too willing to recommend where you should see and where you should avoid.

Entertainment in Rotorua

Pavilion Cafe

Caravel Hotel, Fenton Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

For a night out with a different check out the traditional Maori Hangi and Concert which takes place here every night from 7.00pm. An authentic Maori feast followed by live music and dance. A really fun alternative to your usual night on the town.
Churchill's Bar

1302 Tutanekai Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

Typical English style pub serving a selection of beers and ales from the home country as well as a variety of native New Zealand wines. Good place to enjoy a relaxing evening but not quite what the madder revellers among you might appreciate – unless you bring a crowd that is.
Cameron's Bar & Grill

1109 Pukuatua Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

With live music every other weekend and a fun, young clientele this is another popular backpacker haunt. Also has an excellent food menu which won’t stretch your budget too much.
Wild Willy's

1240 Fenton Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

Wild West style bar right in the centre of town which packs them in every night of the week. Again, serves a really good selection of food ensuring that the place is buzzing from morning time until closing time.
Ace of Clubs Nitespot

8 Ti Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

For those of you who pride yourself on your excellent dance moves this is one of the few ‘official’ nightclubs in Rotorua. Open until the wee small hours it’s usually where most people end up at one point or other on a night out but don’t let this deter you.
Club Karaoke

82 Hinemoa Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

Another one of the nightclubs in the town this place has the added attraction of being a top karaoke joint too for those of you who fancy yourself as a bit of a singer as well as a dancer. Guaranteed to provide a fun night out.
O'Malley's Irish Pub

1287 Eruera Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

Rotorua’s only offical Irish Pub which has live music on Friday and Saturday nights as well as serving up a host of traditional Irish food and drink too. For any of you who have never been in an Irish pub before, check this one out. Those of you who have don’t need to be told.
Pig & Whistle City Bar

Corner of Haupapa Street & Tutanekai Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

Another traditional English pub which is usually more renowned for its food than its drink but both are equally enjoyable. Attracts a good mix of locals and visitors all year round and also serves its very own brews which are well worth sampling.
Monkey Jo's Jungle Bar

1263 Amohia Street, Rotorua, New Zealand

As the name might suggest this place is a little wilder than some of the aforementioned but don’t let that deter you – it’s ok we knew it wouldn’t. One of the newer establishments in town but already it’s made its mark.
